Long waiting times on the plane wait for travelers while airports solve the problems

As in any other industry, the pandemic caused air traffic to be disrupted — closing some airports, turning others into ghost towns for extended periods and paralyzing some airlines.

This week’s Down to Business looks at flying and analyzes what’s happening at airports today amid reports of long lines and long waits.

Guests included Mike McNaney, vice president and chief external affairs officer at YVR, Vancouver Airport Authority; Wesley Lesosky, president of the Air Canada Component of Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents approximately 9,500 flight attendants on Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, and also president of CUPE’s Airline Division, which represents approximately 15,000 flight attendants on nine Canadian airlines; Barry Rempel, who retired as president and chief executive of Winnipeg Airports Authority in September 2021; and Rian Burger, senior principal and aeronautical architect at Stantec Inc.
